December 1, 2016 – Assuming on-board units that permit area wide dynamic road pricing won’t be installed in all vehicles for a while, the next best alternative is a network of priced highway facilities that ensure geographic equity amongst drivers. This option is a possibility now that Toronto Council voted in favour of Don Valley Parkway/Gardiner Expressway tolls and the province is moving forward with HOT Lanes on the northern section of the 427 connecting to the existing 407 Electronic Toll Route. The network would be linked by adding full priced lanes or HOT lanes to the 401, southern part of the 427 as well as the 404 and 400. See our press release for more information.
