Provincial Election Debate 2018

A new provincial government was elected in Ontario on June 7, 2018. To ensure that critical transportation issues were not lost during the campaign conversation about health, education, jobs, equity and taxes, Transport Futures partnered with TV Ontario and our sponsors to hold a focused debate on May 14. Moderated by Steve Paikin, host of The Agenda, the Liberals’ Steven Del Duca, the Progressive Conservatives’ Rod Phillips, the New Democrats’ Jessica Bell and the Greens’ Tim Grant shared their respective party platforms pertaining to:

Highways, Roads and Safety
Transit, Intercity Travel and Smart Mobility
Funding, Financing and Transportation Demand Management
Leadership, Governance and Communications
Questions from the live audience.

TVO also aired a 1-hour version of the debate on The Agenda on May 15. Transportation experts and other pundits (including Transport Futures advisor Ed Levy) joined moderator Steve Paikin on May 16 to further analyze the debate and what the different party policies mean to Ontario over the next 4 years.
