Transport Futures statements on COVID-19

September 27, 2022

Although Transport Futures is very glad to hear that most COVID restrictions will be rescinded this week. we are assessing whether our next learning event will be held “in-person”, online or as a combination hybrid event. In the meantime, stay-up-to-date by subscribing to our listserv and/or contact us if you have any comments.

Today Transport Futures is extremely happy to announce that the Provincial Election Transportation Debate will be taking place at Innis Town Hall on May 20 or (most likely) May 25 — our first event since December 2019.  To ensure everyone’s safety, we will be following provincial and University of Toronto COVID-19 guidelines for events under 200 people:

  • All delegates will be screened via questionnaire. Masks must be worn if 6 foot distancing isn’t possible.
  • Innis Town Hall’s capacity of 200 seats will be capped at 125 max to ensure those who don’t arrive together can have at least one seat between them.
  • On the 44 foot stage, party candidates and the moderator or host will be spaced between 6 to 8 feet apart.
  • There is also an option for up to 500 delegates to attend the debate “remotely” via Zoom/Vimeo.

Either way, we look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,
Martin

Ontario Public Health policies related to COVID-19 prevent venues from renting space where more than 50 people gather. Combined with the impact the pandemic has had on our sponsors’ bottom line, Transport Futures has cancelled planned conferences and cannot move them online without significantly raising our registration fees. We look forward to the situation changing so we can see you again soon. In the meantime, please stay healthy and contact us if you have any questions or suggestions.

Sincerely,
Martin
