TVO’s The Agenda with Steve Paikin (Nov. 19/13)
I joined four of my Mobility Pricing Summit speakers for a panel discussion with Steve Paikin, host of TVO’s The Agenda.  The 50-minute conversation covered several big issues:  congestion, mobility pricing, state of transit and road infrastructure, governance and more — all with the international perspective that is well known to Transport Futures delegates.

Transit Panel revenue tool recommendations (Dec. 13/13)
We issued a press release stating our disappointment in Anne Golden’s tax recommendations.  Unfortunately, omitting road tolls and parking fees will result in more gridlock, crashes and emissions.  These issues will be analyzed in much more detail at our spring conference (see below). 

RCCAO Pre-Budget Roundtable (Feb. 13, 2014)
The RCCAO, one of Transport Futures’ founding sponsors, invited me to attend their Industry Roundtable as a delegate and revenue tool break-out group facilitator. An action plan is now being developed based on the results of very productive discussions.

Ontario Good Roads Association/Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference (Feb. 26/14)
The OGRA, another great sponsor of ours, asked me to speak to over 500 people about Transport Futures, mobility pricing and the need for a National Transportation Strategy.  My message:  While it would be very helpful if the Federal government participates strategically and financially in building a truly sustainable transportation network, Ontario’s provincial government and municipalities must not delay the use of mobility pricing tools they already have in order to use existing road infrastructure more efficiently and raise new revenues for their maintenance and re-design. 

Stockholm’s Congestion Pricing (March 11: Noon to 1:30 EST)

Solving Gridlock Forum (June 16, 2014)
Besides debating whether new transit and roads can decrease traffic congestion as the GTHA’s population grows, this Transport Futures event will discuss how to make the correct infrastructure choices in order to gain approvals and financing – especially given limited public dollars.  Experts from Canada and the USA are being invited to participate so be sure to save the date.
