Ontario Intercity Travel Summit

Improving the Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal Corridor

Toronto Metropolitan University - Ted Rogers School of Management
September 30, 2026 - Toronto, Ontario, Canada

For the first time in a decade, interest in intercity travel by rail and bus is on a major upswing. The federal government’s $60-$90 billion Alto high-speed rail project connecting Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City is the main driver of this excitement – and some consternation, too. But will a new electric train with its own alignment be enough for Canadians to ditch their car keys or airplane tickets when current surface transport operators have difficulty providing the efficient and affordable service needed to connect these destinations? To explore the extensive range of intercity travel challenges and opportunities, more than 20 experts will participate in five interactive sessions:

* Tracking Intercity Travel Opinions *
* Where the Wheels Hit the Road, Rail and Tarmac *
* Achieving Alto’s Aspirations *
* Boarding the Legislation and Consultation Train *
* Assessing Corridor Alignments and Opportunity Costs *

By the end of June, speakers will be announced and registration will open. In the meantime, be sure to save September 30 in your calendar so you can join 100 delegates representing government, business, unions, academia and NGOs. We look forward to welcoming you to Transport Futures!
